This course has three major goals. First, it introduces you to the cultural heritage of pre-modern China. Second, it improves your analytical abilities in reading unfamiliar texts, which are skills of great importance in college and the working world beyond. Third, it provides you with an opportunity to improve learning (such as note-taking) and writing skills. No background in Chinese linguistics or language is required. All readings and class discussions are conducted in English
